NFC enabler Mopius and IT services company Tieto have brought the international Windows Phone Community Week to Vienna and invited developers to the first Windows Phone Developer After-Work in the Millennium Tower.
After Brazil, Indonesia, USA and many other countries, the local community brought the Windows Phone Community Week to Vienna. To start the new event series, visitors had the opportunity to attend five short focus-sessions from experienced Windows Phone developer colleagues. Afterwards, the evening offered the opportunity for sharing experiences and networking. As additional bonus, all developers received a free Windows Phone Developer Center-membership and the lucky winner Oliver Ulm (Refocus App) got a free Nokia Lumia 920.
“Mobile Development is an increasingly important branch of the economy, which manifests itself in a large number of start-ups – like our own company Mopius. The number of apps in the stores grows rapidly; the Windows Phone store alone has more than 175,000 apps. However, very few consumers know that only a small fraction of the income actually lands in the developer’s bank accounts. With events like this, we would like to strengthen the collaboration in the community”, explains Karl Pletschko, CEO of Mopius, about the background of the event.
“For the first time, the community got active by itself and has organized a meeting for experts. Our target was to bring enthusiastic developers together, to facilitate networking. I think that we have succeeded with building a platform for communication and sharing experiences, which in fact helps anyone with his work and supports the rapidly growing ecosystem”, adds Andreas Jakl, CTO of Mopius.
“In the future, the mobility area will grow even more important – we are certain about that. Especially the ‘new way of working’ will be more mobile and more freely organized. We have identified this trend in its early stages and built the foundation for a collaborative, flexible way of working through our Future Office approach. Because of that, we support the community and organized the first Windows Phone Developer After-Work event in Vienna together with Mopius”, summarizes Thomas Hohenauer, CEO of Tieto Austria.
“Through the release of Windows 8, the mobile ecosystem of Microsoft grew up. Due to the timeliness of mobile topics and the previous absence of a connected community, it was important to start such an event series. I’m glad that Tieto and Mopius have taken the initiative and made this event possible”, tells Helmut Krämer, Windows 8 and Windows Phone evangelist.
Nowadays, networks form dynamically. Also in this case, companies got together to build a new platform for thematic knowledge sharing. This form of collaboration is perhaps symbolic for the mobile industry, which didn’t get the dynamic image only by chance.
